Kinetic Universe Code of Conduct
I solemnly swear (or affirm) to obey all the rules, and act in a respectful and honorable manner to all participants and spectators. I also acknowledge the following:
1. Kinetics is for everyone - as such:
a. I will treat everyone within our Kinetic Community with respect, regardless of race, color, ethnic or national origin, disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, or age.
b. I will respect my neighbors at Crab Park and NOT play loud canned music and will quiet down by midnight.
c. I will NOT interfere with timing or scoring officials while they are tabulating scores. Their job is hard enough as it is and messing with them could ruin everyone’s fun.
2. Safety is paramount - as such:
a. Fighting, physical/verbal abuse, and unwanted sexual advances have no place in Kinetics.
b. While I am piloting a kinetic sculpture, bicycle, or motor vehicle, I will NOT consume alcohol or illicit substances during course hours.
3. This planet is on loan to us - as such:
a. I will treat it with respect.
b. I will clean up after myself and my team and will leave no trace behind.
c. I will NOT leave any fire unattended.
d. I will NOT light any type of firework along the racecourse, at Halvorsen Park, or Crab Park.
4. I have read the current rules for events I am involved in and I will follow them. If I am captain of a team or group, I understand that I am responsible for ensuring that my team/group reads and adheres to the Race Rules and this Code of Conduct.
Most importantly of all, I will always honor our Glorious Founder Hobart Brown’s intention that we are “adults having fun so children want to grow up.”
Should I violate any provision of this Code of Conduct, I acknowledge that I may be subject to loss of ACE, time penalties, disqualification, Banishment, possibly legal action, and definitely a bad reputation. Alleged violations of the Code of Conduct may result in investigation and/or disciplinary action at the discretion of the Kinetic Universe Board of Directors. Disciplinary actions could include disqualification from future race participation or volunteering.
